friday delight

Happy Friday! I hope this entry finds you in a cheerful and refreshed state of mind- after all... it IS Friday. Don't you feel rejuvenated already? Okay, perhaps that's a bit too presumptuous but maybe these pictures will give you a jump start into the weekend.

Here, take a look at these color palettes (that second one is killer). Is there a smile on your face yet?

Next up, two beautiful small and large spaces I stumbled across on junk garden girl followed by a wondrous collection of terra cotta pots (my favorite). I found a crate full of small-medium sized terra cotta pots last year along side the road marked for free- it made my day. Although I don't have a green house or a proper place to start seeds right now, some day I  will and in the mean time, I'll simply enjoy looking at them!

And don't forget, strawberry season is just about over (depending on where you live). If you're thinking about making last minute jam and looking for a good recipe, look no further than Strawberry Vanilla Jam from Food in Jars. It's incredible. The picture above depicts the feet of Katy Elliot on her strawberry picking adventure this week which you can read about here

What is everyone doing this weekend? This morning, I am tag-saling (as always) and photographing garland. Finally, the sun seems to be agreeing with me which means it should be a productive weekend.

colour lovers

I found a super fun site this weekend that definitely has the potential to be a little addictive. It's called COLOURlovers and it's "a creative community where people from around the world create and share colors, palettes and patterns, discuss the latest trends and explore colorful articles... All in the spirit of love." As I was browsing through all of the patterns and color palettes made by it's members I couldn't help but think what a great resource for those of us looking for new color schemes for a living space. This site is full of inspiration. Here are a few palettes and patterns I took a liking to...

... and here's one made by yours truly.

So,  if anyone is reading this... I challenge you to try this out, make up your own color palette or pattern and post it in a comment so I can see them!

happy memorial day weekend!

In my last entry I shared with you one of the photos I took from my Wednesday shoot and since then I've been spending almost every free moment rendering image after image... definitely not the most exciting part of this process. I've also spent more time that I originally expected coming up with names for these new colored garlands! Does anyone know of a helpful color naming source? I realize that people do this professionally for a reason but maybe it will just take a bit more research on my part. I thought I would share one more photo with you this morning before I share some weekend inspiration!

Now, for the good stuff. These first two photos were featured on Decor8 from the new magazine, we love living, based out of Germany, and the last image was a exceptional find from Fondly Seen

What are your plans for this weekend? Family picnics? Parades? The weather in Southern New England looks absolutely perfect so I plan on making the most of it. Now that the harvest season has been kicked off for a few weeks now I might be doing some canning this weekend thanks to a tasty recipe for orange rhubarb butter that sounds so delicious found on Food in Jars. We'll see... Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone!

happy weekend

I thought I would continue with the theme of inspiring color palettes by posting a little blurp about a product I am quite fond of. I am the proud owner of Hunter Lady N Rubber Boots that I love and wear even when there's the slightest drizzle outside. These were my first pair of rubber boots and now I can't imagine life without them. This also might help you to understand why my bog header is in fact... a pair of boots.
Now, you might be thinking... Hunter Boots are expensive, maybe even over-priced and I would agree with you. Though they are beautiful and probably very well-made the truth is, you can find plenty of rain boot options elsewhere at a more affordable price. For those of you willing to splurge check out Ebay for a pair of new or used Hunter Boots. Ebay was the only way I was going to get my hands on those Hunters and I plan on getting a lifetime of use out of them.
Now for the inspiration! You have to admit... the color choices Hunter offers is pretty outstanding and hopefully seeing them lined up like this will put a smile on your a face!

And guess which boots caught my eye immediately... Ah, yes, that green number on the middle right side! All of these boots are a part of the Original collection that you can find on the Hunter-Boot site.

What are your plans for this for Mother's Day Weekend? One thing I love about spring time in New England are the flea markets and tag sales every weekend so tomorrow my Mom and I will be heading out with a route in one hand and coffee in the other. See you on Monday!

color forecast

Here's a color forecast for Fall 2010 that I came across from the Pantone Fashion Color Report Fall 2010 off of the Pantone Website. It's incredible how these color choices determine what hundreds of thousands of retailers will or will not manufacture for consumers every season. Check out the color report and thumb through top designers that share how colors inspire their work.

Any of my friends (and even a former Professor or two) know that I have a thing for Chartreuse, and those sickly looking shades of green. My mom continues to make fun of me when were shopping because most items of clothing I prefer are colors you would find in an outdated 70's home! I can't help it. How about you? Is there a color or a color scheme that you keep coming back to? Are there colors that you simply can't live without?

Here are a couple other color schemes that I took a liking to, found on fashion trendsetter.
