pasquetta

A dear friend of mine recently reminded me of a day we shared together 5 years ago in Orvieto, Italy—Pasquetta. The day after Easter (Pasqua) is the Italian holiday Pasquetta which roughly translates as "little Easter". We were 17 ladies, living in a 13th century convent in the inspiring city of Orvieto studying art, history, language and culture. We were invited by a dear Australian couple to spend Pasquetta picnicing at their villa situated among the numerous vineyards and olive tree orchards we admired from the convent windows. We hiked to their villa, laid down blankets among their olive trees and spent the entire day eating, laughing, napping, exploring and drinking wine from their vineyard as we gazed at the city we called home in the distance. Many of us, including myself will admit that Pasquetta was truly one of the happiest days we have ever experienced and a perfect illustration of our time in Orvieto.
